FC Cymru: Wales Euro 2020 Tour
FC Cymru: Wales Euro 2020 Tour
Most Wales fans couldn’t go to Baku or Rome to support Wales at the European Championships, so the Football Association of Wales asked EatSleep Media to travel to all parts of the country, meeting the fans, clubs, and communities who are the lifeblood of Welsh football.
We started with the live announcement of the Wales EURO 2020 squad. The programme was anchored from the amazing Caerphilly Castle with inserts from Laugharne, Caernarfon, and the Wales team hotel for line interviews with head coach Robert Page and captain Gareth Bale.
Then we were off on tour visiting Chepstow, Newtown, Rhyl, Aberystwyth, Carmarthen and more, showing the passion of the fans, the joy of grassroots football and the heroes who give up their time to make it all happen.
With daily shows from multiple locations, the logistics of setting up shoots with so different clubs across three weeks were immense. But our team pulled it all together in style and even threw in some Facebook Live broadcasts on game day to share the atmosphere and excitement of fans across the country.
The plan was ambitious in scale and technical know-how, and we are proud the Football Association of Wales trusted EatSleep Media to put it all together. Despite the fans not being able to travel and support the team, we were able to work with the FAW to bring the fans together and allow them to share their celebrations across the tournament.
