And the Award goes to...

What’s the collective noun for a group of awards ceremonies? A table? An envelope? A tux?

Whatever it is, we’ve been to a fair few recently after being nominated by numerous organisations in numerous categories. Which is lovely.

Starting with the RTS Cymru Wales Awards where we received a wonderful four nominations in three categories, all of which we were extremely proud of for differing reasons.

In the end we, or rather or mercurial Head of Creative, Luc Daley, bagged the Rising Star award.

Fully deserved, biased or not, as Luc has been a driving force behind everything we deliver at EatSleep Media.

We knew there was something special when we first met this very shy and quiet boy a few years ago and dragged him around Wales and mainland Europe filming lots of stuff without paying him!

He’s still shy and quiet, but he loves telling stories and loves helping others to do the same. So huge congratulations to him.

Then there was the Institute of Directors Wales awards, where we were nominated for the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion award.

This was a big shock to us. Not that we aren’t diverse and inclusive, we really are! But to have it recognised by the IoD was a real honour for us.

Finally, it was the Wales Business Awards, organised by Chambers Wales.

Two nominations this time - again, chuffed to bits with both - Digital Business of the Year and Employee Engagement.

And we wandered home with the Digital Business of the Year award. It now sits in pride of place on our newly designated awards shelf. It’s a little lonely, but it’s a start.

Awards don’t just give you a sense of achievement and recognition, but they also give you visibility. You are suddenly showcased to people and organisations who previously did not know who you are or what you do.

And the nature of those nominations says a lot as well. We’re as proud for being nominated for our equality, diversity and inclusion, and our employee engagement, as we are for winning digital business of the year.

It says a lot about, not just what we do, but the way we do it.

This is important to us, because we’re not just about the bottom line and quality at all costs.

We want our team to feel empowered and take ownership, not just of their projects, but their time with us. To feel like they are being trusted, rewarded, respected and developed.

That and high-quality story-telling is our secret sauce.

It’s what makes us EatSleep Media.
